This year, LUVS have started the ‘LUVS Kindness’ initiative. We are challenging all our members to do an act of kindness every week. We hope you will enjoy doing it and that we can all learn to incorporate acts of kindness into our daily lives.
The act will be E-mailed and posted on here on a Sunday and put on Facebook on a Wednesday!
Its all voluntary, but it would be great to get as many people doing them as possible. Everyone has their own struggles, both in university and outside of it so its a great way to give back to the people you're sharing your vet school journey with. We will also ask for photos from time to time, just for fun! Get involved and have fun doing it!
If you want to contribute to making the acts of kindness, send an email to Charlotte on email@example.com with your ideas. We look forward to seeing how you all get on!
Act 4: BOGOF Take advantage of a ‘buy one get one free’ (BOGOF) offer and give the free one to someone else. If you’re feeling really generous, give it to a stranger. If you cant find an offer, then buy something to give away; sweets, fruit, the toll fair, coffee (Leahurst you have no excuse with 35p coffee machines)…
Act 3:Meet your neighbours You should be fairly settled into your house/halls now, so if you haven’t met your neighbours yet, go and introduce yourself! Knock on the door and say hello. If your feeling extra brave take some cake round and stop for a cup of tea. They will appreciate the effort and it will make them more likely to look after you, your parcels and your property better. Its a great way to improve the university/vet schools reputation in your area as well.
Act 2: Daily compliment Ever think, 'she's wearing a nice coat' or 'I like his shoes'? This week your challenge is to say that! Pay someone a compliment each day this week. A friend, a stranger, on rotations or in lectures- find an opportunity and take it! You could make someones day!
Act 1: Make the first move This week LUVS are challenging you to start the conversation. Whether you are stood next to someone at a bar, sat next to someone in a lecture, or stood in a queue with someone, we challenge you to start that conversation. Try and challenge yourself with this every day- you don’t know where one conversation could take you!!
